What the law says

Matured for at least three years in wooden casks of not more than 700 litres; at least 40% alcohol (35% if flavoured). Whisky made in South Africa must mature in a customs and excise warehouse, in casks approved by the Commissioner of Customs and Excise.

Minimum alcohol: 40% ABV
Minimum maturation: 3 years
